Enabling Knowledge-Paks

To enable Knowledge-Paks for a Project:

  1. Select Administration | Project | Project Options | Add-on Modules | Knowledge-Paks Online from the FootPrints Toolbar.
  2. Check the Use Knowledge-Paks Online checkbox.
  3. Application Server—Enter the application server URL in the box. This defaults to /footprints/RightAnswers/.  The default is the correct address unless you are hosting the Knowledge-Paks DLL files on a different web server from FootPrints.

Note

If you are using the UNIX version of FootPrints, you must manually configure Knowledge-Paks using the instructions in the README.rightanswers file in the RightAnswers directory.

  1. Field to associate with RightAnswers (optional)—Select a field from the drop-down list of Project text fields to use as a search field for Knowledge-Paks.  If you haven't created a special search field for Knowledge-Paks, select Click here to go to the Field Maintenance Page for Project Fields.  The Field Maintenance page is displayed.  Create a text field, e.g., Knowledge-Paks Search Field, to use for keyword searches in Knowledge-Paks.
  2. Enter the Analyst Username and Password assigned to your organization in the boxes provided.
  3. If you purchased the Customer Self-Service Knowledge-Paks, enter the End-User Username and Password assigned to you in the boxes provided.
  4. You must purchase the Knowledge-Paks Add-on Module to enable this feature.  If you would like to try the feature, you can use the sample Analyst Username and Password provided on this page.  The only title you receive is for Portable and Remote Computing.  This is only a sample; when you purchase the add-on, a full list of titles is available.  Please contact your sales representative if you would like more information on purchasing this Add-on Module.
  5. The server containing Knowledge-Paks Online (the FootPrints server by default) must have the Microsoft® XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0.  You already have this if you are on Windows XP or have Internet Explorer 6.0 on your server.  If not, you may need to install the parser, which is available by clicking the following link: msxml3sp2Setup.exe.
  6. Enter your password and click GO.
