Numara Asset Manager System Administration Setup

To use Numara Asset Manager, it must be configured by the System Administrator.  This is done under Administration | System | Features | Asset Management.

This page contains the following settings:

  1. You must first install and license Numara Asset Manager.  Contact Numara Software to obtain a license.
  2. Per Project Setup—There is also a Project Administration Asset Management page. After you enable asset management for the system, you must go to the Project Administration Asset Management page and configure each Project to use asset management.  (The Project Administration page only appears if asset management is enabled for the system.)
  3. Changing logo graphic—If you've changed the FootPrints logo graphic, you may want the Asset Manager graphic to match.  To change the logo graphic that appears the Asset Manager window, replace the centop.gif file in the WWW\reports\images subdirectory of the directory in which you installed Asset Manager.
  4. Other Asset Management Products—To use an asset management product other than Asset Manager, if you have a license for those products and have the appropriate FootPrints add-on, you can click on the hyperlink to change the system-wide asset management configuration.
  5. Enable Asset Management—This setting enables or disables asset management for the system.  (If enabled system-wide, asset management can be disabled in individual projects.)
  6. Server Location—Enter the URL of your Asset Manager web reports interface.  For example: http://www.widget.com/discovery/.  If FootPrints and Asset Manager are on two separate servers and a proxy server is required to connect from the FootPrints server to the Asset Manager web interface, enter the full URL of the proxy server. For example:  http://255.255.255.255:8080.
  7. Login Information—If you enable the Project option to automatically select asset data and Asset Manager requires you to supply a user name and password, you must fill in a valid Asset Manager user name and password here.  Otherwise, leave these fields blank. This is solely for the automated processes that occur in Footprints and customers submitting Issues via the web interface. When an automated process occurs in an agent web interface action and they have the "Auto-populate Asset Information" option enabled, the agent must first log in manually in the popup window with Web Control Center in it. Then all subsequent lookups will happen automatically. This feature is only necessary if the NAM Web Control Center is configured to disallow Anonymous access. If the Anonymous Access is enabled in the NAM Web Control Center, this "Login Information" can be left blank.
  8. Type in your password and click GO.
  9. Before you can access Asset Manager data from a Project, it must be enabled and configured for that Project. Please follow the instructions for Asset Management Project Administration Setup for each Project in which you would like to accessAsset Manager inventory data.
