With Numara Asset Manager, you can track all of the hardware and software assets on your corporate network and know where they are located. Numara Asset Manager allows Agents to dynamically identify which PC assets (including hardware and software) are on the corporate network, where they are, how they are configured, and whenever changes are made to them. Routers and other network elements are also identified. Asset data is fully integrated with FootPrints Issue Management. The Agent can get an automatic snapshot of the user's PC configuration, including platform, hardware, and software information, and save the information in as part of the Issue record.
What follows are instructions on setting up and using Numara Asset Manager with FootPrints Help Desk and Customer Problem Management.
Note
This is an optional add-on to FootPrints. A demo of Numara Asset Manager is available from the Numara Software web site at www.numarasoftware.com.
There are two steps to setting up FootPrints to work with Discovery:
With respect to discovery of handheld devices, if the handhelds have an IP address they are discovered by the Numara Asset Manager add-on. They may show up as a "Network Device" with a general icon. Windows CE devices show up with a Mobile Icon and are identified beginning with version 4.5.3. This includes iPaqs. Palm or Blackberry devices are also discovered if they have an IP address.
